An altar server is a lay assistant to a member of the clergy during a Christian liturgy, i.e. any public prayer where the Priest requires assistance. This includes Mass, Stations of the Cross, and Prayer Services. Altar servers attend to supporting tasks at the altar such as fetching, carrying, and ringing the altar bell. If young, the server is commonly called an altar boy or altar girl.
Requirements:
Choir practice is every Wednesday evening at Our Mother of Mercy. We are always looking for new voices to amplify our praise to God.
Requirements:
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are adults who have received all three Sacraments of Initiation and who, if married, have received the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. These Ministers participate in the sacramental life of the parish, attending Mass regularly, and are commissioned to help in the distribution of Communion during Sunday Masses, weekday Masses, Feast days, weddings and funerals.
Ushers serve as “first representatives” of Jesus Christ at Mass. They help ensure a smoothly running church service and minister to parishioners in a variety of practical ways.
The duties of an usher include assisting people with special needs, helping parishioners find seats, and collecting the offering.
Anyone can be an usher - there is no special training needed.
Come and pray the rosary with us every Sunday beginning at 8:10am
Lectors are liturgical ministers who dedicate themselves to proclaiming the Word of God in our liturgical celebrations so that all may hear and live the message of the Scriptures. This ministry is for those who have good public speaking skills and are willing to receive the necessary training.
